This surprised me... a few days to melt off the snow and ice and this guy pops up! I'm always amazed that plants will still grow in frozen soil, covered in snow and ice. If the temperature goes back into the single digits I'll cover this one for a little protection but I guess winter won't last forever!

Oh nice! What is the name? If not really rare, I could use a few near my walk to cheer up the winter. I'm sure I can find some online.

My snowdrops are not due for another month or so.

Nice to see so much green and flowers in. Maybe spring will come after all. Posie the real early one for me is 'Three Ships'. In warmer climes it flowers about a month earlier, right around Christmas.

The polyanthus aren’t really my cup of tea either. But in a formal section of the park and in January I’m not going to be snooty about a bit if kitsch colour.
