Looks like one of the G macrrohizum cultivars. I find the foliage very pungent to the point of being unpleasant. Maybe indoors its less strong and scent is very subjective. It's a bone hardy spreading and evergreen easily propagated by rooted portions. It doesn't need heat or lights indoors.

floral_uk, thank you so much. I've been wanting to identify this for weeks. I think this is exactly right -- the MBG website (here) indicates "Leaves are strongly aromatic when crushed." They certainly are, and you don't even have to crush them to get the fragrance (which for whatever reason is wonderful to me). Just touching them is enough.

I guess I'd say it's the only plant I know that is truly a "scented geranium"; i.e. not a pelargonium. Or are there are other real geraniums that are scented?

Btw, I like your phrase "bone hardy" and am not familiar with it. Is it a horticultural Britishism that we Americans don't know about?

‘Bone hardy’ is just a colloquialism similar to ‘tough as old boots’, but probably less used.

I’m trying to think of other scented Geraniums but failing at the moment. I’m sure the people over on the perennials forum, which is busier than this one, could think of a few for you.

G macrorrhizum is a very useful plant as it withstands poor soil and relatively dry shade such as under trees.
