Do you know what species it is? There are lots of Aristolochias and they are not all equally hardy. That said the vine in your photo looks alive, rather than having died to the base, implying that if it is a species hardy in your zone it will regrow from a permanent framework.

Hmmm interesting, all I know is it is a Dutchmans Pipe. I bought it at a reputable garden centre so I'm sure it will be hard in my zone. Would be nice if it buds off previous growth.
