Wow. Sounds a bit pricey. I would shop around at other fabricators to see what they may have as a price.

It sounds like the price for a whole slab and contractor mark-up, which was 20% on countertops for our kitchen remodel. We did not put countertop in our contract and saved several hundred dollars. For our bathroom, we looked at remnants and priced half slabs, which a few quartz companies sell. I wouldn't expect to find anything for under $1000, and that doesn't include fabrication, which typically doubles the cost.

Yes, contractor said the slab alone was $2k. I thought about looking for a remnant but I really need a solid white to work with my decor. Contractor is checking with other fabricators now, but I guess I shouldn't; expect miracles.

The vanity was a splurge. I wanted a hanging vanity with mostly drawers and IPE wood fronts. I was lucky to find someone local willing to work with IPE and we thought the price was reasonable. It included a few other items which could maybe be put on hold for now and added later. I just never expected the top to be more than vanity!

Sounds about right for a whole slab and fabrication of something of that size. Even if you went with a cheap granite, the price wouldn’t really drop a whole lot unless it’s a stocked item where they only sell by the square foot instead of the slab.
