Does it have blue flowers? It looks like Salvia divornum, which is a hallucinogen, but it has blue flowers, I believe.

It does not have blue flowers, but small white flowers that barely open. I will take a picture tomorrow and post it.

Here's some info I found on how to identify it.. Seems the flowers are white, but I also read that male plants have no flowers. Just so you'll know, if it is Salvia divornum, it's considered a controlled substance in Florida, but I've never known anyone to be arrested for having the plant in their yard.

My friend told me it was good for colds, but she doesn't know the name of it. We both planted it, but mines really took off, hers didn't.

This is a sunflower family plant along the lines of something like Ageratina. The sunflower family is huge with many genera and tens of thousands of species, so there might be several possible genera this could belong to. If you bought it somewhere then going back to the source may be the best way to get a lead on the name. Otherwise if it seems certain it has well known medicinal uses the same kind might be present in a labeled collection of herbal and medicinal plants somewhere in your area, such as at a botanic garden or university.

Everything I read says they are toxic, and unless you are absolutely sure of the species, I wouldn't be eating them.

Wow, I would have thought that was "longevity spinach". The growth habit and leaves look just like my biggest plant. But the photo does look a little blurry to me to be fair. It might just be my screen.

Longevity spinach (Gynura procumbens) has yellow flowers.
