I guess my post didn't come through. The silver one might be a Metallica or Silver Cloud, it doesn't look like a Moonshine or Silver Queen, definitely doesn't look like a Bantel's Sensation. That short one looks like a silver version of Loop's Pride?

Thanks Robdb8 for your input! Anyone else wanna confirm? The funny thing is that these two plants were smashed between a 1 gallon Futura Simplex and I pried them out and put them in their own pots. I'm waiting to see what their pups would look like!

Saltdesert, Love those first two. First one looks like my silver version of S. tri. futura 'Asahi' AKA 'Morgenstern's Futura Aurea'. If so, it will develop more yellow on the inside edges. If not, may be something new to us. Same with the other S. tri. futura that almost looks like a 'Eve'. They are new and very exciting. Keep me in mind if you want to trade pups in future. Pictures of the ones I mentioned.

Boncel is the dwarf form of S. cylindrical which is what it looks like. Nice find.

Hawaii has strict agricultural rules. Have to look into it more. Plus, shipping is expensive to and from...anyway something to investigate.

Saltdesert, I did get some sans from a friend in Hawaii and the post office tells me that priority mail cost the same across the street or to Hawaii. It's a 50/50 toss up as to it making it to Hawaii's customs. I know Hawaii, Calf. and Florida is very strict on some kinds of plants to be imported.

If you can purchase them reasonable, I would gladly pay for cost to ship them.

Robdb, You nailed it. First time I heard of this plant. Don't know where I can purchase one at. Is there a nursery near you that sells them?

No, I only know of one greenhouse nearby that sells sans year round. I would love one too actually... When it warms up a little I'm gonna venture out a little further out to see if any surrounding towns have them (Maybe not that specific variety but whatever I can get). I love Whitney and that one just ups it a little more.

I don't want any plants right now in winter. Come spring I might have a Whitney pup I can part with. Can't promise anything until I see what does what thru the winter.

That would be awesome Stush. My local greenhouse had some massive plants that he "needed to divide if they didn't sell". I couldn't turn down a plant that had half a dozen pups coming up, especially if it is indeed a Silver Hahnii Marginata. I know it's the wrong time of year to do anything with them but I'm aching to do something. Someone's going to have to verse me in how to ship plants so I can spread the wealth as well.

It's simple. Find a right sized box that's not too heavy. Wrap the plant in newspaper, place in box and put address on it. Go to the post office and tell them First Class Mail please (cheapest way). If over 13 oz. then it has to go Priority Mail which is twice as much. Priority Mail is a whole lot easier due to they supply the box and can pick-up at the house with shipping label done on the computer. Cost start around $8 up compared to First Class starting around $3 up.

I lost my Silver Hahnii Marginata as well as my hahnii Silver Frost. I got to find out why? Keep getting crown rot. Most of the others are doing well. Rot comes from over watering and cold conditions. All my futura always do well for me. Hahnii sucks.

saltdesert, the sans in your second pic is definitely S. cylindrica v. cylindrica.

The sans on the left in the first pic could be S. metallica Manolyn, I can't see the leaves well enough to confirm though. The small sans on the right is a Hahnii variety called Silver Frost. It is an unstable variety and can sometimes offset another unusual-looking variety, who's name escapes me right now.

Leaf cuttings of cylindrica will propagate true, if your plant is Manolyn, leaf cuts will revert back to its base species metallica (old name was guineensis). Leaf cuts of Silver Frost will almost always revert to it's base variety, the regular green Hahnii.

If you'd post a close-up of the left plant in first pic, we might be able to better identify it for sure.

Russ, yes I had questions on the one you named cylindrica. I have other cylindrica that are large and they grow more upright. The one in the pix kinda fans out heavily, can you explain? It is also much more shorter than my other cylindrica. Thanks

funny that you mentioned about the silver frost being unstable because those two plants were both in the same pot tucked between a larger Futura Simplex. I actually bought the Futura simplex amongst the dozen or so Futura simple because It was the only one with the silver sans mixed in. I’m wondering it there was some funky reversion going on in that pot. Some of the other simplex had some robusta reversion too. Really cool
