I used several driplines they are 100 ft sections and when you initially set them up you put an emitter where you need it. Mine were already set up with emitters so I laid mine out and planted near an emitter. I had about 20 lines connected to one main line and it had a flow regulator and connected to the water spigot. Each individual line had a shut off. So I would turn the main line on low water everything and maybe several rows did not need as much water I could turn them off and continue watering the rest. In my pepper/eggplant area I had extra emitters so I would plug in an herb, basil this year. My lines were set up on 12, 18. 24. I used 12 for my onions and it worked perfectly for me. Tomatoes i used 18 and planted every other emitter.

You can buy all the parts pieces etc commercially or at home Depot Lowe's etc. I am pulling mine to take some with me because my son does not want them.

These are over 10 years old and laid outside for many years. They are tough. They do not hold up to a freshly sharpened hoe ;\

Hi Kim--I just found what you're talking about, I think. . . . that's the direction we'll be going, too. I see Rainbird emitter tubing on Amazon and other places. Are these what you're talking about? We'll have separate ones in each flower bed since and just run the main hose out to each of them--so they'll hook directly to the hose. I think we can be trusted to do it without a "regulator," but those are famous last words!

Amy, a hose is about my technical skill level. So I figure I can handle a simple connection to each of these driplines in each separate bed. Ya think?

Get quick connects. Even I can do that.

Be sure to have a pressure regulator between your spigot and driplines, even if you're just using soaker hoses. It will save them from blowing out if the spigot is turned up higher than they can handle. There's no good reason not to spend a little bit of money on the regulator---you'd be glad you did.
