    Hi Joy,

What a beautiful and sunny face :-))) Just what's needed during this rather icky storm.

Lovely! Glad you didn't get a mislabel like I did! Exotica gets a more curvy shape after it's been out for a few days!! I'm sure your co-workers are enjoying it too!!

Glad to see that so far, we've all still got power and our heads above the snow!!

Thanks Fred and Donna. This is only just opening it wasn't fully open when I took the picture but as usual - I am impatient :)

The storm outside looks crazy I am grateful to have a warm house and work that allows us to work from home on days like this!

Donna - my coworkers have not really been exposed to amaryllis before this as well, so we are all watching the progress of this one and talk about it every day :)

    Hi Joy,

this is a lovely bloom but I'm not sure if this is really Exotica. Could you please post another picture when the bloom is more open? I hope that I'm wrong because I really like Exotica and I'm afraid that is isn't produced anymore since Donna got always mislabels when she ordered one. It wasn't offered here in Europe for the last two years neither.

I have a Minerva bulb at work for two years now and all people there admire it when it blooms and love to talk about it too :-)))

    Good luck with that storm!

Well Anja, I had the same thoughts too and even looked at some of my pictures to compare and although it is different looking I do think that it is Exotica even if it doesn't have the copper in its eye. My past Exoticas from past years look slightly different from one another too but all have the copper eye. I just think that the color will come in as it matures and I can't really think of what else it could be! Unless.... its Terra Cotta Star which I got last year for Exotica!!! (from ETGB!!) Hmmmm

Here is a Terra Cotta Star from 2015 what do you all think?

Well Joy, I think that's what you've got if I'm not mistaken now that I see them at the same time for comparison, look at that throat!! Terra Cotta Star appears to be the substitute of late for Exotica. Terra Cotta Star is a lovely flower also so it's not a bad mislabel if that's what you all think it might be.

Sure will Anja! I am not going to be at work for a few days now - was working from home today because of the storm and just got a call that the kids school is closed tomorrow as well. So will be Monday before I am at work again! Hopefully it still stays open until then!

To tell you the truth I have been surprised that all my bulbs so far have been true to the label based on how many mislabels some of you have gotten!

Hi Donna - yes now that I see you pic mine is probably a terra cotta star!

    Hi Joy,

When I first saw your picture, I thought "hmmm, that might not be Exotica". What is is though, is beautiful regardless of what it turns out to be. You certainly have started your journey with some beautiful varieties. I wish you luck in your growing. I am sure there will be many willing to share with you in the future. I certainly will also.

I hope you all stay warm and I pray the lights and heat stay on during these winter storms.

Thanks Joey :) I love that one just for its color even - its the only one I have that is not the in red/pink shades. I have now looked up pics online of Exotica carefully and see now what everyone is saying - mine is definitely not an Exotica it seems.

I checked back on the ETGB website and am wondering if even the pic they have on there is an Exotica. I can see a slight darkening of the throat there but it mostly looks like a terra cotta star.

Either way - I am happy with any bulbs that flower regardless of what they are!

Hello everyone - here is a pic that my friend who was able to make it into work sent me. What do you think? I know its not the best lighting for the pic so hard to tell.
