Lighting Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Hello! We are about to start our bathroom remodel. Presently we have light fixtures not he wall over the mirrors. We plan to put sconces on either side of the mirrors (we have 2 vanities). We have some a few ceiling cans also. Is 40 watts enough for each sconce or should I do 60 watt with another choice of fixture? The sconce we would like is 40 watt max. I just want to be sure to have enough lighting for makeup and shaving...any help would be so appreciated! Thanks!

Do you have pot lights above the vanity as well ? New slim led pot lights are great to use above vanities. You can use them in the bathroom as well as an insulated space with no problems.

How many pot lights are you planning on putting in your bathroom?

450 lumens (40 watt-equivalent ) is plenty for me for the 2 wall sconces in the bathroom. But, your sconces are rated for 40-watt incandescent bulbs only for safety's sake (heat generated by the bulbs).

If you want more light, use LEDs instead (which use less wattage and produce much less heat). My 40 watt-equivalent bulbs draw only 5 watts. You could put in much brighter bulbs without a problem.
