Close up the entry out of kitchen to match cabinet width plus a small but a curved arch versus a full round as existing .

Change light to LED dimmable and multi circuits and potential strip or rope lighting for accent in led format.

You have light switches above the cook top. I don't think you can do that.

I would do stainless behind the cook top and tile the rest from fridge just to the cook top.

I agree with Darzy, go bold and tile the whole thing. I also agree that the outlet over the cooktop may violate code as someone would be tempted to reach all the way across the cooktop.

You have that kitty corner thing going on near ceiling, arches, electrical switches, opening over a cabinet. I think that’s a lot to ask any tile to contend with. I’d ‘frame’ your accent tile and place over stove. Cover walls with your tile along cabinet walls and paint the rest.

That arched opening is super awkward...

The wall should extend to behind the bottom cabinet. Then the light switches can be moved over. Then square off the opening...even though you have the other arched doorway I think it would look better. That other one has doors...pantry? Another room? Not sure about the bottom cabinets on that wall either....could you maybe make them all the same depth instead of jogging out like that?

Maybe I will post the actual code a bit later, but it is hard to post a code that does not actually exist. In other words, it is not really against code to have switches and receptacles behind the stove. HOWEVER, there is an NEC code that says the receptacle behind the stove can not be counted as one of the "required countertop receptacles", therefore, making it rather useless, and a potential hazard. (But then, a receptacle used by a hot griddle where the cord hangs off the end of an island is also a potential hazard) You may need to add another, or move the existing receptacle to comply with the NEC.

It would not take much to turn that entire 3-gang around to the other side of the wall.

Yes, do tile above the ceiling, above the hood. However, tile to the top of the cabinets, not to the top of the wall, and end the tile with the hood/stove line. We also agree with tiling above the sink and microwave.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. The tiling will start tomorrow. If I end the tile at the stove line should I get pencil tile just at that stove line up to the hood.for a clean finish. I didn’t quite know how to do that since it is all the same design style? Would it be off balance just to have the framed tile at the end of the stove line or do a boxed in tile design above stove as shown in the picture you sent even though it is the same tile throughout? I would end the tile before the stove from upper cabinet to lower cabinet. You can use a pencil tile if you wish. I would do stainless behind the stove for ease of cleaning.

You still need to do something with those outlets.
