Should I replace this buffet and hutch with something more modern? Should I paint it the colour of the fireplace mantel??

The tv situation is the problem, I think, not the cabinet. If you’re considering replacing the cabinet, I’d get something that could house the TV or at least incorporate the TV somehow. Maybe along these lines. Not your style but this basic idea.

Do you need it for storage?

It seems crowded with both the angled wall full and the !arge piece,

You can cover the tv cords btw with a piece that can be painted.to match the walls?

Yes I think a modern touch in your living room. So changing the buffet and hutch for a modern one. Also I could suggest you change the wallpaper for a brighter color and wall color a bright navy blue. Also some more accessories on the mantle.

My husband just added his lovely large TV so maybe that is why I no longer like the area?? He hasn't gotten around to putting the cords behind the wall..waiting for our handyman to arrive and do that.

It seems to be the tv that is throwing everything off. Not quite the place for it, and it does not go well there. Is there another place for it. Very pretty house

I like the way the hutch continues the color of the top of your dining table. Could the hutch be moved a little to the left? Then see if putting a tall plant in the corner between tv and hutch is too much or helps make things work together.
