I was thinking of painting the brick a khaki color, shutters black or dark grey, and trim work white.

About the interior: replace Victorian style ceiling fan with one having a bowl, or no light option, using table lamps (as is right) for ambiance. Craftsman style lamps, of course! Replace the door with a craftman style: windows (lights) in the upper third of the door. The one you have is suited for a Victorian cottage style.

White is not in the craftsman color palette. You'll often see black and white in Federal and French Provencal styles. You can do a search of the traditional craftsman color palette, and I'm sure it will also show you the updated color combinations. Generally, the palette of craftsman colors are what is called "muddy", similar hues and colors inspired by nature, like your khaki, but complimented with greens and even berries!

You're welcome. I forgot to mention the "oil-rubbed bronze" is the metal finish most suited to the craftsman style and your fan. And you have probably figured out that the white fireplace surround should be changed to a reflect the craftsman color palette. Window coverings (not what you have) could be natural plantation shutters or blinds.

Oh geez! I'm really inspired by your house! No shutters flanking the windows on the exterior! The craftsman aesthetic would never! use a non-functional anything! A shutter was made to completely close off entry to the home in the case of bad weather or vacancy. This use of a shutter as decoration and far too narrow to actually be functional is a poor design, a ruse that is done excessively!

We are hoping to make an offer on it soon. In addition to its great location, it sits on an amazing lot. Perfect for a veggie garden!

Where is the house located? I love the hardwoods. The living room has great light. With the right furniture placement and space planning that room will have a really nice flow.

Here are three wonderful examples of shutters and one bad one, like on your craftsman!

Notice the black and white color palette on the Federal & French styles? Notice the "muddy" color of the brown shutters and cream accents on the natural stone cottage? Both are perfectly beautiful. The one with the bad shutters just happen to be on a house that's khaki, black and white.
