There are other narrow habit Sambucus, such as 'Eiffel 1' (Black Tower). I've grown this one and it's pretty nice. Very narrow in habit.

Sara Malone, that is a nice one. Did it produce any berries? Do you still grow it, or did it not survive?

It's still here and doing fine! No berries, at least not as of yet. It's been in 3-4 years and doesn't flower abundantly. Another really nice narrow form is 'Pyrimidalis', which is green, but a nice rich green that holds its color in full sun. It is very tall and narrow and exceedingly floriferous. No berries there, either.

Elderberries will fruit best if provided with a pollination partner of a different variety/cultivar but of the same species.

My 'Variegata' and 'Black Lace' fruit like crazy. It's just these other two that I don't see berries on, and the 'Variegata' and the 'Pyrimidalis' are pretty close to each other.

Note that if you are talking about the common one with an irregular creamy-white margin the name is 'Marginata' ('Albo-variegata', 'Argenteomarginata'), Black Lace is a selling name for 'Eva' and 'Pyramidalis' is spelled that way.
