Brad - In my experience, two main things will give my plants long thin leaves; firstly, not being grown in enough light; this will give elongated leaves as they reach out in search of better light.

Secondly, using a fertiliser which is very high in Nitrogen as this will induce excessive "longer than normal" growth.

There is also another possibility, and that is that your plant may not be true to name and is a "look alike".

When plants are grown from seed, although theoretically they are all different, there are also many which may have very similar markings, but they may differ in other ways e.g. they may be taller or shorter, and occasionally these plants get mixed up with the real thing.

I'm not aware of the affects of Florida water on these plants as I live in Australia, but perhaps you would be better discussing your problem with a local grower in your area and see what they can tell you.

I think the 3rd possibility is more likely. It came like this and was kept in bright morning sunlight and was never fertilized. And the pup is carrying the same traits. Think I’ll stick with Michaels Broms from now on.

Darth Vader needs a lot of light to keep it's fat, tight, tubular form. My two forms of a hybrid I did using DV and Pink Champagne; Mad Max and Chewbacca keep their shapes due to exposure to almost full sun here in Southern Cal.
