Budget for paint, landscaping, both?

Yes I am open to staining the house and landscaping. What are you thinking?

I think there are some simple things you can do with stain and paint. The house has nice lines, but some of the details (like the trim on the chimney) are overdone. Consider doing the window trim and perhaps the fascia in a deep charcoal. Some attention to landscape would help. Let me see if I can make some magic here. Back in a bit.

Get rid of the tree that's too close to the house. Stain all vertical trim boards that are not attached to windows or doors to match the cedar. Paint the window and door trim and fascia charcoal. Paint that white pipe thing on the side to match the cedar. Don't forget the dog.

You know what? Paint the storm door charcoal, too.

Do you all think I could add another material like steel/metal or cement to make it look more modern? What about lighting? Garage doors? Maybe a new front door

You could add a horizontal lap siding to replace the diagonal cedar. The main thing is to get rid of the extraneous trim. I just noticed it outlines the porch, too. It's everywhere!
