Cabinets don't match trim.

We recently built a house. We paid to have the cabinets taken to the ceilings. We asked for them to be done in snowbound white by Sherwin Williams to match the trim color. Our trim was painted snowbound white by SW but they don't match. The cabinet guy is saying they match the paint chip. I bought a gallon of SW snowbound and it matches the trim. The cabinet guy uses Hoover paint I think that is a lawyer. Does that explain why the cabinets are creamy? Getting very frustrated over this. I should have done grey then there would be no issue.

They definitely don't match. But on the evidence of this picture, I'm not disliking the difference at all. Bring some pure white accessories into the kitchen and it might work for you.

On the other hand, do you have a beef against the painter? Yes I'd say you do.

You're right it's not bad just not what I wanted and if I had known I would have made it more of a difference. I feel like it's on the border of supposed to match but doesn't. :)

The different chemistries of cabinet conversion varnish and house paint mean that you will NEVER get a 100% match without having the house paint color matched to a cabinet door sample. If you want a 100% match, that’s what you do. You don’t mix the two different paint chemistries formulas and hope for the best.

I would have all the trim repainted to now match the cabinets

If they repaint the trim it could mean entire house and all the doors as we can see a good breaking point to change trim colors.

Can't see a good breaking point. Sorry.

Ptn, no, it doesn't look like "oh heck I tried to match it but failed". It's clearly different, and I think probably looks better than a perfect match would. I like it.

I like it too, it adds some definition in a good way.

You guys are making me feel better. I think part of it is my frustration with them actually listening to me!

I did this intentionally in my house because I wanted "creamy" white cabinets (BM linen white) with white trim (BM white dove) throughout the house. I was originally concerned that it might look odd but love it now. I recommend give it some time before you act and see if you can get comfortable with it.

The same thing happened to me when my kitchen was re-done due to a flood. The cabinet contractor "lost" a piece of trim moulding above my largest cabinet. He fashioned a brand new piece and that part was fine, but the stain color was completely off. It was actually pink!! (cabinets were coffee glazed maple). He tried to talk his way out of it, but I insisted that he remove the piece and stain it correctly. Stick to your guns and have the piece re-painted to match your lovely cabinets.

What was the solution? This same thing is happening to me! My husband thinks I’m crazy!

I have the same thing and I do not know what to do. The cabinet contractor wants to come in and spray the crown. I am reluctant as I feel the spray paint could travel through the house. amAny suggestions?

I don't have any suggestions for you but wanted to say your cabinets look beautiful. What color did you use?
