My husband is a mail carrier and he hates mailboxes with flowers around them. He often gets stung by bees.... just a friendly comment so people can think about that!

There are many annuals that do not attract bees as they do not have enough pollen. Bees cannot see the color red as well. I have been in the garden center business for 20 years surrounded by flowers, and have never met an angry bee. As a matter of fact, I sadly see many bees these days. Humans cannot survive without them. I do believe some of the problem is allowing wasps to build inside or under the mailbox. Make sure the mailbox door closes tightly as wasps do not like to be disturbed. Artificial flowers are definately an option. Using 2-florist brick per side fit perfectly. Something for everyone.
