Just had a house built and the contractor put in 5 panel shaker doors, but the are super light. When questioned he said that
"Interior doors: You are correct that we always specify the bedroom and bathroom doors as solid core. That is true for almost all styles of doors. That particular style of door (5 panel shaker) does not come solid/hollow. The recessed shaker panel is only 3/8” thick so there is no “hollow” area as described in other styles. All other decorative styles (raised panel for instance) have a hollow area between the front and back."

Is this a true statement?
