Only creatures in my bat house were anoles. I've got cabbage palms, but I haven't seem any bats near them either. The obvious things to do are to make sure there are no water collecting items around the house. (Pot saucers!) With the onslaught of rain since Irma, I've been breaking up the "donuts" and placing them in the seasonal flooding pools and swales- so far seems to help quite a bit. Oh, and bug repellent. I can't stand the stuff on my skin, so I spray my clothes and hat - ( they bite my neck and ears then). I did buy a shirt with bug repellent in it, and thought it helped quite a bit, but the repellent doesn't last nearly as long as the shirt.

Wearing citronella oil seems to help. I get mine at the local health food store and put a dab on each ankle and wrist.

I used two Dyna Traps last summer and they worked. Took about two/three weeks but I could go out in the yard without wearing mosquito netting.

I'll set them up again, but so far haven't seen any nor gotten bit.
