Built in small pool & spa

We are thinking about putting in a small pool & spa. Don't have a lot of room, but I really miss having a pool just to float & relax. Keeping it around 4-5ft depth. Do you have a built in small pool? Is it used or a waste of space & money. We live in Southern California about a mile from the beach. Our last pool was full size & I used it often. Opinions please
