I don’t see anything “off”. It’s very pretty. I think drapes will make a big difference but I also think a piece of art would look very nice.

Thank you both! I do need artwork as well. I am not sure what yet, but wanted to make sure I wasn't off with what I was doing so far. Jodie, the soon is very small, about 9x10, so that's about all there is. I just moved in so it's otherwise blank walls, but would love your thoughts!

I’m also trying to imagine another layout....do you want the desk floating in the room? Or could you place it under a window?

What seems off is the softness/balance that drapes will bring to it. The large wall without a window could use some art.

Curtains/drapes won’t work over the credenza...

Maybe some nice Roman shades???

Both of these are from pottery barn and nice quality. They could also add some interest....I wouldn’t do all white. You could even do woven shades...

You have made some beautiful selections...for me, I feel like it just needs a pop of colour. You could go a soft turquoise/teal, or a beautiful pink, if you want a romantic look.. Not too much, just some accessories, and then add art in to make it accented. Adding some coloured glass vases, or lanterns? I would also think a little black would help ground it too. There just needs to be some visual contrast, or the whole thing starts to look washed out.

Aside from other have said about pops of color, the first thing that draws my eye is the visual weight of the back cabinet compared to the desk. I would prefer a more substantial desk to balance it and center the room, or if you really like the simple desk, a different piece for the cabinet that is less substantial.

I'm no designer, but that is what grabs me about the room.

It's a pretty room. Why do you have the desk facing a wall though? It's definitely a personal preference but I tend to work better when I'm facing a window. Anyway, some color, some drapes, and a bit of art will make it just right.

Thank you all so much! This is such great feedback. I'm happy to hear that things aren't completely off, but I just need to continue to work on accessories. I love the idea of roman shades, as well as bringing in an accent color and plants. I've been uncertain on curtains and color, so the ideas are great. Do you think abstract art or watercolor would be appropriate given the rug already has a busy pattern? Or would that be too modern for the room?

Amy, I do like to face the door in my office. Also, because of the size of the room, placing the desk against a wall made it seem like all furniture was around the walls. I was trying to do something different, but I should play around with the layout. Thank you!

How functional is this room supposed to be? It's very nice as is, but if this room is functioning as a real office I think it simply looks staged.
As an office, it's not working.
Where are the books? Is that credenza storing all your supplies? Do you use a computer and printer? If so, where is the printer and where do you plug it in? Where's the desk light, stapler, etc? Is that little desk all the workspace you'll need? Is that chair really going to be comfortable working in for more than a couple hours? Is the chair the correct height for working with a keyboard on the desk? Are you the only person using this room? If not, where do they store their personal work separately? These issues need to be addressed, not just the look of the room.

The only thing that seems off to me is the pretty mirrored pieces are not picking up or reflecting any light. Perhaps it's just the time of day the photo was taken?

Will the credenza fit on the windowless wall? Then angle desk in corner facing the windows to look outside or door as you prefer. Artwork or mirror over credenza. Window treatments and finishing touches. A floor lamp for height or large fig tree. Wold be helpful to know the purpose of the space, however love the selections and color scheme. Very pretty.

What colors are you drawn to or do you prefer the monochromatic look you have going on?

Thank you all! Carrellhouse, this will be my office, but I only work from home 1-2 days so I have a laptop, haven't needed a printer for years. In an ideal world, the desk would be bigger, but the room is too small. My supplies are all in the desk drawer or credenza. I don't have/like alot of things sitting around.

Jodie, thank you for the idea. I just tried to move the credenza, but it was a bit awkward b/c of the size of the room. The side came right up to the doorway you can see in the lower right hand side of the photo. But I will work on the finishing touches. I would love to incorporate other colors, but am still learning how best to do that. I do tend to want more of a calm color scheme - blues, grays, creams, etc; I just tend to work best in a peaceful environment.

Thank you cwestover. I think its just a drab, rainy day outside. It's usually a pretty bright, well lit room. But I'm glad to hear you don't see anything majorly off!

Texture in decor items. I love horns but understand if you do not. Varied height on items on credenza. Could add color or not but putting together items to see what you like or not like.

I think you could possibly bring some color ( not bright) into the room by replacing the desk chair .

Do you have room for a small easy chair and floor lamp in the corner facing your desk? A place to relax and have a cup of coffee.

Thank you oliviag55 - that is a great idea! I hadn't thought of that and will see what I may be able to do to leverage the chair for more color.

erinsean, I actually had the same idea last night and brought an old chair up. I do have room and think I will use that corner to do just that. I just need to figure out how whether the chair can be a different color/pattern or should mimic the other one. If you have thoughts or suggestions, i would love (and benefit greatly) from them!

I would look for two chairs, if you have the room, in a similar colorway. pastel-ish.
you don't need a lot of color. just something beyond grey and white.
