I am pretty new to growing a plant (it was a gift) and have just started caring for one.

My plant (an Exotic Chocolate Flower)has just started budding, and (my itchy fingers decided to gently touch it) it snapped off from the seed (which the root is at). Now i'm really sad. A few questions to ask

1) will a bud still grow from the root itself?

2) if i place the snapped bud at the side and continue watering it, will it still grow?
