I cant decide if I split them apart if they will each have enough roots. Do you all think they will be able to grow to full heads if I don't?

Yeah ... do you risk hurting them? Seems to me they would just grow smaller heads if left together like that. I've had doubles like that, but not a triple.

Remember this post? Here is the largest of the two cabbages we grew! Nice tight head! I pulled it because it stopped growing in this hot weather. But I left the rooted stems in the pot to see if they regrow.

Great, Bea! Now, let's see if you can keep it from bolting on you. I always found that if you deveined and shredded the large cabbage leaves very small, you can cook them in a slow cooker all day, and they aren't so bad. My mom used to put them into her chow-chow. I usually just cut them up small and put them out for the birds.

Wow Bea, that cabbage looks great! I need to try growing them this fall. Love good cabbage.

I forgot to say the head is about 8" across!

DG I didn't even try to do anything with those big leaves. I gave them to my chickens. They had fun pucking at them, tossing them in the air and finally eating them!

I knew that they produce some sprouts but for the sprouts to grow into new full size cabbages?!! Wow!

I chucked my rotten cabbage onto a pile of woodchips. It grew beautifully, without my help. Even grew into a nice sized head. I cut the head and it looks like its growing three or four new ones..free cabbages! cant say the same thing of celery..they usually die halfway

SSS, I did that with a brussels sprout plant once, Pulled it up and chucked it onto the compost pile, and it grew up through the middle and put out a few more sprouts before frost. Cole crops are amazing.
