Beautiful and there is your gorgeous Terra Mystica again smiling down on your yellow!! I think this year's bloom of your Terra Mystica is giving you larger flowers than mine did this year.

Those are both beautiful! I agree the yellow star (is this different than lemon star?) looks more green than yellow - but very beautiful shape!

Yes Joy, this is different than Lemon Star, the seller, a Dutch company, offers both varieties.

Very pretty! The coloration is of course special but the shape is also very nice.

I have 3 scapes on my Yellow Star I was thinking about pollinations. I have 3 ideas for 3 scapes.

1 scape will be pollinated with papilio and pap hybrids ... Krakatoa, Jungle Star, papilio, Exotic Star... maybe Machala and or Sonatini #1623

1 scape will be pollinated with Green and Saturn, older Merengue pollen ( fingers crossed) , Sonatini Sunshine, and Donna's Green Eyed Tangerine. This will be the orange and reddish scape.

Last scape will be pollinated with Sonatini #1807 and Sonatini #1820.

What do you think?

What should I put on her? I already dusted one flower with H. evansiarum, maybe this can give some more yellow to the flower. I'm also thinking of Merengue, Mystica, Exotic Star... What would H. aulicum do on a yellow/green flower? By the way, I can see a hint of yellow in her now but maybe just because I want to :-)

Joey, mine has roots (no leaves yet) but I had it on a heating pad. Before this she did nothing! But don't worry, some bulbs start growing after flowering.

Anja, If you have enough flowers, and since your bulb is rooted, I'd try them all. They probably won't all take but perhaps something that you didn't think would take might. I would be most excited by a cross x Exotic Star and Mystica. But digging into some of your Sonatini pollen might be good too!

Merengue, Mystica, and Exotic Star sound great.... aulicum would give great shape. I, like Donna, think Exotic Star would be beautiful.

Donna, I think you're probably right :-) Unfortunately I don't have any Sonatini pollen (except Sunshine which is blooming right now) because all pollen from last season was moldy. Right now I'm enjoying the beautiful flowers! It is quite a show :-)

Yellow Star with Not Graffiti

Yes Joey, mine did the ballooning also, I liked it very much. But they opened the next day without any help. Flowers last quite long, nothing has wilted yet.
