Thank you. I was wondering if there might be some kind of "alternative spring" here, as it seems there is a growing season that starts in the fall. I planted a lot of annuals in October-Nov, which I would normally plant in May back east, and they are still flourishing beautifully.

I don't know for sure but I imagine tazetta type Narcissus would be ok in a milder winter area.

I guess what I was wondering--because the fall here somewhat mimics spring back east (hence I am able to grow annuals in fall-winter here) does anyone have experience with somehow "wintering" and then planting bulbs so that they bloom in the fall here? I've read that one can plant bulbs in the fall for spring blooming here, but they need to be refrigerated for 6 weeks first before planting. It's too late for that now, so I was wondering if there is a way to take advantage of the springlike fall-winter season here? Am I making any sense?

Tazettas can start flowering in fall. There are also specifically autumn flowering bulbs including crocuses, Cyclamen, sternbergia, amaryllis, nerine , schizostylus and colchicum.
