Fireplace Design Help!!

We built a new house and could not decide on a fireplace design.. it’s been a year with this wall. We were looking for something “grand”. Options are:

1. Tile or stone wall to ceiling and going all the way to the windows. Maybe adding a mantle that goes all the way across as well? Or would this be too much with the TV there? Also wasnt sure what to do with the top trim piece..the type of stone we liked is attached, it’s a gray,brown with some blueish tints. Other suggestions totally welcome!!

2. Go 1/2 to the top with some sort of stone/tile and a long mantle

3. Traditional fireplace with molding and tile /stone just surrounding the fireplace itself

Would love to hear thoughts/suggestions!!

Love the sleekness of these fireplaces, no mantels, if you like a mantel maybe more like the one in pic. Lovely space you have

It really totally depends on your style. But if you are planning to keep the tv over fireplace, and don't already have it on a mount that can lower it to eye level for comfortable viewing - something like Down and Out Mount - available on Amazon.com would offer you those options.

Either a modern stone or tile to ceiling surround or more traditional mantle could work in your space. I think with a traditional mantle setup - going toward the more sleek, modern lines in the mantle piece design would work with your furnishings and room style.

What does GRAND mean to YOU?

There really isn't' too much surface to work with. I would just face the entire wall with a tile or stone you LOVE.

Your room has a contemporary vibe so I personally would forgo a mantle.

Thanks! Not sure what grand really means to us - just didn't want something too "builder spec". But I think I am leaning towards just doing the entire wall too.

I suggest you use only one stone choice and go all the way up...no mantel with tv there. Also, I love stacked stone but it. Is a dust collector..ash, etc..the other tile. Is sleeker and will be easier to maintain...I love the tile..can you share the brand and color. Name? Good luck..it will fe beUtiful.

do something w/a little pizzazz.

i love this herringbone glazed brick (CleTile) comes in a ton of colors too.
this tile can go all the way to ceiling

even something like these geometric tiles, in these colors would look nice in your room.

ditto this tile,,,all the way. (no garland thing!)

these come in the 4x4 or these 3x3, with an amazing array of colors

I actually love the tile that you picked the sort of like cutted bricks one (left one)

1. I would do full floor to ceiling fireplace with that tile that you already picked, with no mantel, bcs it will make it looks clean and support your contemporary style,

2. then I will add two floor to ceiling curtains next to your windows,

3. I will add another arm chair and place it side by side in front of the big windows, with that floor lamp between, no need for that side table that is next to your arm chair bcs it will be too cramped i guess

4. and use a really nice artwork above that sofa on that big wall..

5. bring all the colors that you want together by using the artwork and pillows
