I wanted to start a thread following Streptocarpus 'Blue Frills' as a plant, and not a propagation subject. This is an amazingly floriferous plant that starts blooming small, and can become a large, and spectacular plant. The plant originates from Dibley's in the UK.

I'll do this sort of in reverse, by starting with the plant I got an unrooted leaf from, and also a rooted leaf with plantlets. This is my friend Jose's plant. He grows it in an unheated greenhouse in South Francisco. I've never actually measured it, but the photo makes it look smaller than it actually is.

That plant is growing fast! First flowers are on the right.

People have noticed that the lower half of the flowers on my plant don't seem to be as white as on the mature plant. That seems to be changing. The 2 most recent flowers:

In the last couple days, I've had a plant start blooming. It's one I'm holding for someone else until winter eases up a bit.

And the 8 buds on the plant. Actually there are 9, if you count a minute one under the bud on the left. Note that I'm calling each inflorescence a "bud". When they are small I have no clue how many flowers there will be, although it's clear some of these will have at least two.

So I'll try to follow this plant over the next several weeks, before it leaves, and see what it turns into.
