Not sure, Peter. As for myself. Just been busy with multiple things as my plants are all taking a winter hiatus. Have looked in to try and keep in touch, but not as often as I’d like.

Is it the absence of users of the Adenium group that you query? I find that this is a quiet time usually.

We have you and others on the other side to keep us in Adenium glory.

Hi Pete, It is a bit quiet on the forum....I too am missing chatting with some of our overseas regulars, will be nice when Spring arrives for them and we get to see some of their beautiful plants back in flower. I have been reading the posts and saw your post on the spider mites being back. I hope your predatory bugs work for you when they arrive. Do let us know how they go....

Took my older plants outside today, it's supposed to get up to 84F/29C today, I guess winter might be over here. I had them inside when frost was predicted, but it didn't happen, my tomato bushes still look fine. These aren't really old, a year to a year and a half, newer seedlings are still inside.

No spider mites this year, but got mealy bugs. Trying "Safer Soap" on them. Lost a lot of leaves, probably due to not enough light and water, making up for that now.

Got some fancy plant labels last year, found that they can't stand sun. Just a touch makes them snap right off.

Hope I get some colored blossoms this year, all I've had so far were white.

It's still cold here and also waiting for spring. I currently have my two desert roses out in the greenhouse just dormant and very unhappy with the colder temps but that's usually the story every year and they pull through with damaged branches. My seedlings I started last year are in the den next to the heat vent and under a led grow panel but I can't tell if they're still growing little leaves or just going dormant because it was a big change. I just hope they pull through and resume growing when spring comes through - even though I'm pretty sure they'll just be normal pinks that everyone seems to get. :)

Seems like I read somewhere that seaweed fertilizer is good for waking up the plants.

Pete, in regards to your plants not performing this year...I think it’s been a strange season for all of us on the eastern side of Australia this season. Although I had a good Xmas time flush of flowers, our plants haven’t performed as well, either. With the hot northerly winds (we usually get south easterly breezes and higher humidity) making it feel hotter then normal, our plants have spent most of the time growing root systems. We have had to repot all of our larger plants for the second time this season as they had run out of room and nutrients in their pots. The flowers also did not colour up as well this year and the colour faded fast in the heat.

We bare rooted all the larger plants and repotted with fresh new soil. They are now looking healthier since the repot.

Rachel i think u have hit the nail on the head i haven't seen anything like it. The bugs are confusing i don't know what's good bug or bad bug the good bugs turned red .the seedlings are going off i cannot believe how much they have grown i will post some pics later.

Paul - yes they are albino Adenium.

Hi everyone, its still winter here(ohio 6b) so I'm just going through my trial and errors being new to adenium, grow tents, and high output led but so far so good. I love the effect that the led lights have on my seedlings.....But for now I just can't wait until spring.

Are those two white Adeniums, albino ? Do they grow normally ?

Ali - yes the two white ones are albino, they only live max 3 weeks as they cannot feed themselves, unfortunately.

It was 14 degrees outside when I woke up this morning!

Nice. Nothing happening with mine. Still dormant and waiting for winter to be over. BUT it's going to be in the 60's and even 70 this week and rainy. Daffodils are starting to bloom and spring is on it's way but it'll probably be another month before we begin feeling it for real. So, must be patient. Still, I have put some of my plants out onto the shaded porch today so they can enjoy the warmer days and start getting brief touches of sunlight. The in and out shuffle will soon begin.

Hello. I'm a new member andthis is my first post! I actually signed up for Houzz just to take part in this amazing forum. I've been growing A. Obesum hybrid seeds for the last few years. I wanted to grow bonsai but always had horrible luck with our San Diego climate. So in looking for a drought tolerant sun loving alternative I discovered eBay and the Adenium trade. Haha. I haven't purchased any grafted plants up to this point only Thai obesum seeds from Thailand. Hoping to learn a lot here and see everyone's amazing plants!

Today was actually the first day in weeks it hasn't broke 70 degrees. We've had a very mild winter. Last year tons of rain and very cold. The plants have still been dormant though and are just now showing signs of "waking up". March is usually when I start to pot up and crop my plants. Started a little early this year. I planted my first adenium in June of '13. I've been growing them pretty hard lots of cropping over the first few years. I use a mix of 50% Botanicare Readygro Aeration and 50% corse grit as my potting medium. I begin my ferts around this time. After repotting and cropping I use something called HeavySixteen "Roots" (.7-1-2) once a week at full strength 1mil per gal. Then in April I switch to Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro (9-3-6) and Dyna-Gro Pro-tekt (0-0-3) and dose through September.

Love the Dyna Gro products and they do work well for myself as well. Going to try the Color Star, (I think it is the name) that Mary of Texas uses on some of my older blooming plants. She gets amazing results for bloom production with it.

I'm since my plants are so young and I crop the stems like crazy, I've yet to so blooms. I'm thinking of using a product this season called "Fire" (1-10-16) also by HeavySixteen to try and push blooms. I'm California, Hydro shops are a dime a dozen. So for my adenium I often get recommended a lot of products used in the Cannabis Industry.

So glad winter is letting up and spring is in the air! My adeniums are finally beginning to break dormancy. It's been a rotten, cold, grey winter and I'm glad to see it going. They just got their first slurp of Dyna Gro and lots of new leaves coming out.

Hyn good to hear cannot wait to see more action on G W in Australia i think i can speak for most its been strange .for me its been my worst summer flowering wise ever half my plants didn't come out of dormant state.
