Restoration Hardware Down Filling vs. Standard

Anyone have any experience using both or either? We are interested in the Belgian track arm sofa. While we like the feel of the down I don’t want to regret a constant messy look. We heard they updated their couches with a foam core and it’s wrapped in feathers helping the messy look.

I have the same question!? Anyone?

Sally, I ended up ordering the standard cushion. I went into the store and they had both options to show. I noticed after anyone sat down on their down sofas, their sales associates quickly ran over to fluff the couch cushions. I realized it would drive me nuts to have a messy looking couch.

Meredith, how is your sofa working out? We are on the verge of ordering the Cloud or Parisian feather wrapped core sectional. The reviews are frightening me!

Hey Aunt F- we ended up getting the Track Arm standard fill and I’m so glad we went with the standard fill. We also got the swivel chairs to match. Which I didn’t do everything to match but it looks cohesive, just need to mix some pillows and throws. To be honest I would never know the difference but do see that it’s less messy looking than the down filled. We ordered a bed from them as well which had to be returned THREE times because it was damaged every time it was delivered. That really left a bad taste in my mouth with the company.

Meredith which bed did you get? I just ordered a bed from RH and reading your review worries me. How was it damaged??

I got the Adler bed. Ended up getting a bed from Room and Board. Way. Enter quality and everything is made in the US. Highly recommend looking into them. Their stuff is way more attractive in person at their stores than online. Quality far-passes RH.

What was the defect with the bed RH sent you?

Thanks. I hope my experience is better. I already ordered the RH bed. =(

Hi Meredith, how are your RH couches holding up? We are looking into buying the Italia slope arm couch (or the Belgian track arm). The sales associate recommends the down fill over standard fill. Would love to hear how yours have been so far!

    1. I would NOT recommend RH down filled upholstery. It does not recover and constantly looks crushed, even with the foam core insert . The down gets through the seams and fabric and creates dust everywhere. The seams were not sewn with small enough stitch length and that's one of the reasons the feathers and dust escape so easily. Not only that, the 'hand washable' slipcovers shrank and no longer fit the seat cushions properly, which leaves a gap between the cushions. Gorgeous sofa in the show room, pretty beat up looking in a real home.

Could be the same for a leather sofa? Might be uneven?

I cannot stand down in furniture. It pokes through, is too soft, and my husband is allergic to it (more common than you would think). It also does not bounce back when you sit on it. I am a foam fan.
