Gorgeous fox and pics tj. I had one hanging around too last winter but it was much shyer and my camera is very low end, hence no great pics like yours.

I've seen one a couple of times..hit and miss..wish it would stay..

Sly is a beauty! What a nice winter coat. Great photos, too. I see a fox once in a while, but they move so fast I have never got a good picture. Is Sly vocal at night? They can make the scariest sounds sometimes.

Sly has been pretty quiet at night...well, given the limited amount of time I'm outside at night this time of year.

As a keeper of free range chickens, foxes are on the top of my hate list along with squirrels and starlings. Having had mass slaughtering of my poultry on several occasions I would be more than happy to get the gun out.

Since fox hunting was banned here in the UK they are reaching epidemic level in terms of numbers. They have no natural predators so are at the top of their food chain.

I am not in favour of packs of dogs and people on horse back chasing them across country until exhausted at which point the dogs rip it to bits. However some authorised form of culling needs to take place.

On more than one occasion I have found my birds strewn around the field headless. They just kill for pleasure not for food.

Having said that. they are handsome creatures and deserve their place in nature.

I get it Dave, I feel the same way about deer! I have a love/hate relationship with them. Love to look at them but wish they did not eat my garden.

Certainly understand what you are saying Dave. Here the foxes do much more good than harm but then there are no chicken farmers around. I've seen a few headless rabbits but that was the work of Great Horned owls.

ALL of these fox pics are great..every one of them..it's not easy to get pics of wild animals..

We love watching the red foxes, especially in years (like this one) when they don't get mange. Their screaming barks can wake me from a deep sleep. I had mistakenly believed that these were imported by British colonists (so they could hunt them), but Wikipedia tells me that there have been red foxes in America for perhaps 200,000 years. Still, they are much more common for us than the gray fox, which has evolving in America for over 2 million years.
