Crassula ovata is a tough plant. Keep it mostly dry, good ventilation and heat. That being said, your plant looks fine. If you have any problems simply re-propagate a piece/section, which is as simple as pressing it lightly on barely moist soil.

It’s seems fine, my young ones do that as well. They were in a crowded bigger pot and when I separated, I noticed some of the stems got the bark like you mentioned. I like the “tree” look. Definitely propagate leaves and cuttings.
