We’re planning the layout for our new construction two story great room. This room will be our primary family room. We have several little kids and entertain fairly often. We’re having a lot of trouble deciding where to place the television. My husband does not want to put the tv on the fireplace as it will take away from the grandeur of it(the fireplace that is). I’m afraid putting it in one of the built-ins on the side will look unsymmetrical. We’re thinking of a tv around 60”. Our final idea is to put it in the opposite corner by the staircase. We’ve sketched this idea out on the attached image. As well as some ideas for seating. Will this be awkward? We really want to maintain flow of the room. I’m hoping to get some ideas on where to place furniture(comfy, maybe a sectional) and the tv. We really want to work this out now, in case we decide to move the fireplace to another spot in the room.
