Feedback on New Dining Table

I just got our new dining table and I am not sure the color will work in our space. We have a small open concept great room. We are limited in space for a dining room table and this was the only 66” x 38” table I found that I actually liked. Most tables are either 60” or 72”. I have a newly built transitional home with whites and greys. My living area is still a work in progress as I have only purchased a couch and two chairs. The rug will be replaced.

This table also comes in grey, but I had a hard time finding head chairs to go with that color and it is out of stock and not expected in for two months. Can I make the wood color look great or should I return and hold out for the grey table?

Here is an idea of the grey wood.

No more grey. The table and chairs are a lovely, subtle contrast - keep them.

I agree with the above comments. It looks beautiful! The variation is good. Keep them & enjoy!

You have more than enough gray. Stop trying to get everything to "match" - it will be very boring if it does.

I agree with keeping the table. What's throwing me off is the chairs. I don't think having two different style chairs works. I'd go with one or the other.

Malabacat, if it helps any, I have two other side chairs that I haven’t unwrapped and put out yet. There will be six total chairs. I, personally, really like the head chairs.

I agree with the others -- keep the table and no more gray. I'd bring in some more linen and some black elements and some additional warm wood -- a wrought iron fixture over the table, dark metal or warm wood base for the coffee table, a dark metal bowl on the dining table, a warm wood basket or bowl on the island. The problem is not that you have contrast, but that you don't have enough yet.

I agree, keep the table. I love grays (and have been using a lot of gray since the 80s) but agree that you can have too much of it. I like contrast of the table you've shown. It warms your room. In selecting your side tables and coffee table try to bring in some more warm wood tones, even darker ones. In our new house, a piece of art I love inspired me to use a camel or caramel color in accents to warm my gray base pallet and I have been unexpectedly pleased with the result.

Don't return!!! Keep please. It's lovely. It's warm. It's great counterpart to the space. Love the mixed chairs too. Don't doubt yourself too much, and keep going.

Keep! You need the natural wood to warm up the space. Can you center it more in front of the window? In the first picture it looks off centered and in the second it appears to be more centered. Also, hard to tell in your photos, but if the island has chairs, i'd match them to the wood tone in the table, not a painted grey - to layer in more wood tone throughout the space.

rebeccamomof123 yes, you are right. The table is slightly off centered from the window. Certain angles is more noticeable than others. I can’t center it, because I have the door down to the basement there. As it is, I only left enough room to open and close that door.

Yes, what kind of barstools was going to be my next question. I was thinking wood to tie to the table. Do you think backless or ones with backs would look best? I love fabric, but I am trying to limit the amount due to kids (4 & 6). Here are two I’ve thought about.

I also love this one, but I’m not sure it works in my space.

I would do six of the head chair style. Buy several cans of scotchguard to make them stain resistant. The space isn't big and having different chair styles makes it look busy.

Are you getting more chairs? If I had only 4 chairs, I would make them all alike. But if I had six, then two different at the head would not be too hodge podge.

I pinkmountain I have 2 more side chairs that I haven’t unwrapped and put out yet.

I should note, I do not plan on putting a tv in this room, so I’m going for more of an entertaining type space. I would like it to have a slight glamourous, polished feel.
