Bedroom help please!

We just painted the room. I will be adding curtains, wall sconces and buying a new bed and ceiling fan. My dresser and bureau are cherry mahogany and I am wondering if my new bed should. Be the same color or cream/white? Also wondering if my new hugger ceiling fan should be white, brushed nickel or oil rubbed bronze? Lastly, any suggestions for what should go over the bed??? Thanks!

You should keep the bed the same color. Since your walls are dark, keep the curtains and other accessories light. Light curtains will brighten up the room and lighter accessories will carry that throughout the space. This will also help to make the room look bigger. if your ceiling fan is going to be brushed nickel (which works well with dark woods) you should tie it together by making the wall sconces and curtain rod brushed nickel as well. Good colors to use for the bed coverings would probably be neutral colors like tan, or grey (which is typical) or cool colors like blues, purples, or greens. If your the type of person who's not afraid of bold colors, then reds or oranges would look good to. Really any color would work, it just depends on what you like. Hope that helped.

Put cream high over 5 ft headboard padded. Instead of whole bed. Change night stands, to black, with mirrors, on doors. Big. Tall lamps silver gray base white shades. Bedding should have a paisley print with color of walls, black, cream. With 4 pillows shames. Add throw pillows. Ceiling fan should be white if ceiling is? Should not notice it. Ok to mix furn. IN fact you do not want to match. Over bed a sun burst mirror not to high.

...and to take travisinteriors very good suggestion one step further, extend the rod at least 12" beyond the window on both sides, IF there is another possible placement for the tall chest. This would give the window greater visual presence and impact. And to be honest, the tall chest looks a bit awkward where it currently lives. To Mark's point, even if you don't go with a tufted style, a fabric headboard of any construction would be a wonderful counterpoint to all that wood. A metal bed would also work beautifully. Anything but wood. Mix it up a bit and have fun with it.

actually, size wise, this looks like a small bedroom. I would think taking curtain panels another foot on either side would leave little wall space for hanging any type of artwork?

Why the new bed? Leave the wall behind the bed dark and lighten the other walls leaving just an accent wall. How about painting the bed a nice light gray along with the dressers, change out the handles for some black or bronze. Get some great metal wall lamps to mount over the end tables instead of the lamps. Put a nice lamp on the dresser. Put a 9x12 rug under the bed with a nice pattern that has the grays in it . The bed clothes can be anything you like, everything goes with the grays, choc.brown, blue, sliver and on and on. Good Luck
