i really like this style. How much light does this style tend to give off? this room tends to get dark at night due to the darker colored walls.

Depends on the bLubus that you put in the fixture. The fixture I attached holds 6 qty 75W lamps. You may want to look at a filament LED style Bulb. They give off more light than incandescent, last longer, and are still decorative. The chart below is generic, but gives an approximate idea of LED efficiency.
