Welcome back! I’ve been dying to tell you, the Chaya and ginger you sent me took off and are huge now! I’m glad you’re back!

I'm so glad! I was just talking about sending you the ginger today. Believe it or not, I thought I had sent you all I had, but it's come back up! That stuff is a pest.

My chaya died in the freeze up here this year, but luckily, I had saved a few in a pot, so I'm going to replant it in a better, more protected place. Do the bees love yours? I just love the way the bees and butterflies flock to it! Such a pretty plant.

Thanks, Silvia! Two of my fig cuttings survived; the Settler fig and the Marseilles VS. They are just starting to put out new growth, and I'll be moving them into larger pots this year. The cane begonia cutting is doing well, and is sending up a baby shoot. Hope your garden is doing well.

Deb, I am glad that the plants are doing well but most important is that you are fine and gardening!

After Irma and the freezes my garden got a trim but I think less is more.:)

Yes, I'm downsizing my gardens this year too. I got a little carried away and put in too much, plus have to take out some plants that are too invasive. Want some purple-leaf cannas? NO, you really don't! They're beautiful, but they don't clump, they run and the come up everywhere! I planted two bulbs almost 3 years ago, and I dug up about 20 bulbs. Some things need an entire yard of their own! LOL

‘so far mine hasn’t flowered. Most of the cuttings you sent me took, and I now have a seven foot tall shrub. It’s beautiful, but no flowers yet, and I haven’t tried eating it yet. Maybe later this week? Have you ever tried it?

i keep the ginger contained in a old waterfall in the backyard. It’s surrounded by concrete, so it can’t escape!

HAHA! Purple leaf cannas sound EXACTLY what I need. Are they tall or dwarf? I've got a 18" planter that runs the 20 feet from my garage to the front door. HOT South wall, and they couldn't escape. LOL

ibarbidahl - They are tall. These got about 6 feet tall. They really are beautiful, but they don't have very showy flowers. I believe the species is Canna indica. The roots are what they use to make arrowroot. Still, the leaves are very pretty, especially in full sun.
