Bring them inside if you can. Most of my outside pots are too big to haul in, but I’ll carry in the small ones.

I've got some stuff that will be headed into the garage for the next couple of nights where temperatures are predicted to drop below freezing. I may cover a few hostas that have emerged early.

This is how they look as of today.

I’m looking around for some old sheets to throw over the pots tonight and see if I can limit the damage. I know they’ll persevere but we are supposed to be listing the house in a couple of weeks so pretty green looks much better than freeze burned brown.

I brought in Lemon Ice. The rest are unprotected. It’s going to be too cold for too long for too many days, and too many hostas are leafing out. Hope ken is right.

I have a similar question- I just received 2 hosta that I assumed would be bare root, but are instead potted up in 4” nursery pots. We still have several weeks of below freezing temps here in Zone 5B. If I plant them now, the leaves are definitely going to die back (which is ok) but would the roots perish also (given the plants are not acclimated or established)?

Thinking these guys will need to stay houseplants for the next 3 weeks+....

Think I remember someone saying that the sheets/covering shouldn't touch the leaves or else that'll burn them too. So if/when you do cover yours, maybe cover the pots with inverted plastic storage bins and throw old blankets on top/around that?

brozeus, put them in a cold room, they will be fine. We brought them all in when it was freezing last year May...
