Question regarding sink install

last modified: 8 years ago

We remodeled our kitchen a year and a half ago. I purchased a HUSH kit for the countertop folks to use on the sink install. They convinced DH their installation would be secure and indeed, it looked sturdy to me. Metal braces about an inch and a half wide on either side of the sink that ran from from to back. Fast forward to about two months ago. There was a small leak at the front of the sink. Contractor's employee came out and did a "quick fix" and said it should hold until he came back to replace a drawer and slide that was giving us trouble. He came this morning and could not replace the drawer because after he'd removed the drawer and slide, he found that the wrong size had been ordered. So, on to the sink. At this point, I had to leave for work, leaving DH to supervise. He later sent me a text telling me that the workman said that the reason we had a leak was because the sink sagged a bit in the center and prevented the silicone from forming a good seal. Here's what flabbergasts me: he used two thin boards to push the sink up tight against the countertop and said we can remove them in the morning. I can't imagine that he thinks it's the silicone job to support the weight of the sink! Isn't it's only job to SEAL?

Doesn't this make you laugh?
