Where are you in the world? Climate and where you are trying to grow the orchid are important.

The just add ice thingo comes up every now and then. Lots of past posts to read on that subject. Do a search to find them.

Ice on orchids roots is not a good thing. I agree that this topic has been brought up too many times. I'm assuming this is a moth orchid. My moth orchids is in a clear plastic pot. I can see the condensation on the roots and plastic. I wait too water until I don't see any more moisture in the pot. I then soak it until water runs out of the pot. My moth orchids is happy and loaded with flowers. I wish you the best of luck with your new orchid! :)
