Can you go stand across the street and take several photos that pan across the yard and overlap slightly. Not a panoramic since that will get shrunk here, but 4 or 5 photos, starting looking at one property line and as you stand in one spot and turn your body show the whole front of the property and and with the last photo reaching the opposite property line. I don't have a feel for the property as a whole, and it's difficult to see how these beds fit with other plantings.

Do you prune the front shrubs by the entry or is that their natural shape?

I don’t agree with succulents and that brick exterior, I would go with Boston fern, ivy and boxwood

OP is located in hot, dry Central Texas. Erika, when you're driving about during your day, do you see any plants or gardens that you love? Maybe snap a few pictures of what you'd like to see when you come home. That could help with plant placement and overall design.

I agree with the low planting suggestion as well so that the entrance is visible from the curb. I like the use of Salvia greggi for almost year round color (think a smoky haze of color). I love the color and height of the swath of orange flowers in Doug Dig's design, that color looks great with your brick. I just don't love that prickly pear right in front of the door. Sorry Doug :-)

That Texas Sage (the silvery one near the front porch area) needs a serious trim, it's so overgrown. It should respond by filling it's foliage back in. It'll bloom after a rain, usually some color between lavender and darkish purple. It's an excellent plant for your location.

That front bed is wretched. Just get rid of it and give yourself an imposing entrance.

Crape Myrtle would be nice for the areas that do not require low plantings.

Picking up on the walkway idea:

Love Dig Doug's walkway and landscaping for your home. Especially the last pic above.
