Find another spot for the painting. It is too small. The other is too small as well. Also hung too high. You are SEATED when using dining space. Find a special spot for both, not where they are : )

Keep in mind art looks better hung 5" above furniture and can be as wide as 75% of the furniture's width. Art hung alone should center 5' above the floor. I agree, both are too small. Otherwise, you have a good start on the room.

What a beautiful piece of art! And a lovely space - great start! I think you can make the painting work. I would start by lowering it and then build up the vignette with lamps on either side. I would look for lamps that are quiet tall, but perhaps with a glass base so they don't feel visually heavy or take away for the painting, I've linked an example below. Then I would add a vintage tray with some decorative items. Hope that helps!

You asked. If you want the painting to "star" you shouldn't have to go beyond two lamps and a very simple bowl. Lamps are going to help emphasize it's quite diminutive size for the space it hangs. What can I say? You frame to the art, and you place it where it looks best..................and you can enjoy it most. Yes, I realize you did not ask that : )

Your art is all hung too high and on the buffet if you want to keep that piece it needs to be hung lower and off to one side or if you want to keep the piece then you need to add some balance on either side As for where the art is hung there are guidelines which are what we are talking about If you notice in these 2 pics how the art is hung closer to the top of the buffet.

I really do appreciate everyone's input, I am no pro in home decor and I realize that it may be too high/low or too small/big for everyones standards but I spend a lot of time in my kitchen/ dining room which is why I chose this space. May not be perfect which is why I'm asking how to make it work :)

I agree to lower it will look better. I would also offset it so it isn't hanging smack in the middle of the buffet, which emphasizes its size being a little too small for the space. Then find a lamp or a tall vase with flower arrangement to fill in the larger space on the other side. Then put something low, like a large bowl or a low sculpture or grouping of items under the pic.

The question you asked was answered. Place two good sizes lamps on either side of the buffet to take up space the art is lacking. Lower the art to 5" above buffet and do a simple bowl on the buffet surface. That's all you need.

Beautiful art! I may be in the minority, but I like the size. I would try flanking the art with lamps. Nothing too bold so that the focus remains on the art.

If you want anything further on the buffet, perhaps a low tray or bowl.

I'm no pro and find hanging art & accessorizing are challenges! At first glance my first thought was to hang your beautiful art lower, and off to one side, then balance it on the other side with something on the buffet that doesn't fight with it visually but balances it. Maybe one lamp. I think the fact that it's centered makes it appear smaller and accentuates it's lack of size. I don't think I'd kept it centered & flank it with two lamps. The art will fight to be the star.

Just read your first thread....want the art there, want it to be the star and what can you decorate your buffet with?...okay, I would get a lamp for each side...clear glass with gold accents like the frame, and medium to tall in height, if possible. Then in the center something to fit under the picture.....a plant, a decorative box, a nice basket, wooden bowl with carving on it...etc. I love your painting....I can see why you want to make it the star.

No matter what you do, it's going to look a little sparse.

But that looks wonderful, groveraxle and for me would work better in a dining room than a lamp. The picture really does stand out as the star in your arrangement.

I vote for black iron lamps with nubby linen shades or gold lamps with black shades for some drama.

If you do lamps then I think visually the tops of the lamps and the top of the art work should be even with one another? Maybe a basket with pottery painted balls would be a fun accent under the painting? You can spray paint the pottery balls any and every color;
