Help finding a 42" dining set for kitchen

Hi, we are in need of a 42" dining set for our kitchen. We love the style of this set:

but the table is 48", which will make for too tight a fit in our space. Does anyone know of a similar style set that has a 42" table??

For reference, this is the space the table will be in, that is a 72" wide sliding door. Do you all agree that 48" table is too big?

Thanks!

Is that tabletop glass? Could you have it cut down a bit? I wouldn't think it would cost much to do that.

By the way, I have had a 42" octagonal breakfast table all my married life, and it is the perfect size.

Yes, it is a glass tabletop... I did not know it could be cut down, let me look into it! :)

You can buy a base you like and have the glass tabletop made by a glass fabricator to the size you want. I believe Arhaus sells table bases.

How many will need to sit at the table? 42" is awfully small for more than two; we have a 48" round and it is a tight squeeze for my DH, myself, and two teen sons. Would a banquette work in the space? With the stationary portion of the banquette positioned against that half-wall, it would leave an unobstructed "aisle" to the sliding portion of the doorwall.

Look for table bases instead of complete tables. Pier1 and Ballard also sell those, in addition to Arhaus, and they sell glass tops, but it might be cheaper to have one fabricated locally.

Prideof owner, there are three people in my house. I do not know what a banquette is? But there is only 6-8" between the half wall and the slider. I'm intrigued by the alternate idea, but not quite understanding how things would lay out!

You are a gal after my own heart....I love glass topped dining tables. Had a hexagon one but had to sell it when I moved. I like the suggestions everyone gave you...find a base and have a glass top made. A banquette is a stationary padded (usually) bench with a dining room table in front of it with chairs around the other side. The trouble with a banquette is that if three people are sitting on the bench, the middle person cannot get out if needed, unless the others move.

Here are a couple of photos of banquettes, something I considered for my own remodel. I ultimately went with a 48" round table - because I also wanted a built in hutch - and wouldn't have had space for it otherwise.

I had a similar area in my previous home, with a round table, and it was not a setup I would recommend. My area had the kitchen peninsula on one side and cabinets on the other which created a tight space once my round table and 4 chairs were in place. Carrying stuff in & out from the kitchen to the deck took a lot of twisting & turning.

Keep in mind that chairs probably won't slide all the way under a round table and I'm afraid you'll always be squeezing by to make your way in and out. How wide is the round patio table I see outside? If it's 42" or less, bring it inside, place some chairs around it and see if you have enough space to easily access the slider.

I would consider looking at some drop leaf tables with maximum leg room.

annztoo, that round patio table is 54". I am going to check out drop leaf tables as plan B. Thanks!

lascatx, thank you, I had found that Pier 1 glass top (! great price!) and I will definitely be purchasing that plus a pedestal, but first I'm going to consider a drop leaf instead... Decisions decisions!

Can’t see top of base but it might be possible just to change glass to a smaller size. I also can’t see the size of actual area as a rectangular table might work as well.
