Need help in big way with Bathroom Remoldeing

Good morning world and thank you so much for any help I can recieve! We really do not know what to do. I don't know if it is needed to know but the house was oringally built in 1890. The bathroom was added on around the 1930's.

What we have done so far: extended the bathroom to the "hall" entrance creating the toilet area. And pretty much we gutted the bathroom. I told my husband to do whatever at one point and he started tiling with traventine and added the giant tub. That will all be removed. I'm thinking just a walk in shower instead? Thoughts, ideas?

The toilet area will have a pocket door. My husband wants rubbed oil look I think chrome.

There is no closet space or room to actually add one. So I'm thinking opening shelves of some sort somewhere? Under the sinks maybe? We do not have cabinets picked out yet.

I want it clean and simple. Hate clutter.

There is room for a double sink. Though this bathroom is not tiny it is not super large either. Approximatley 16feet, including toilet area by 8feet. Its a skinny bathroom and we would like to keep it open feeling and looking.

Yes, I agree, large shower, no tub (as long as there is another bathroom in the house that has a tub). I would do a single sink vanity that allows for more counter space plus have wall cabinets that come down to the top with door and open shelf for rolled towels. That look will allow for more storage and make the space look bigger.

We have a skinny bathroom at home , with a bath AND shower, its crazy small at the moment! I would suggest ditching the bath and just having a shower will give you alot more space and would feel less cluttered. As you said walk in shower would be much better too! I have seen a good article on here about storage solutions for small bathrooms too.. Have a search through the articles!

Thank you both of you. Yes we have 2 other bathrooms one is ultra tiny and a half walk in shower and the other has a nice tub in it. So I'm not worried about the bathtub! Love the image and I had not thought of one sink but I can see what you mean. We will def. Work with that! I just so desperately want it done...ugggg awful looking and feeling! Thank you both.

i'm not a pro but 2 sinks are very important to most people. i'd make the large shower a true 'curbless' walk-in and splurge on spa shower heads. you might consider hiring a certified bath designer to draw a plan to save you from making expensive mistakes.

Thank you DIA we already have an idea of our shower heads. My husband is 6"7 so we have to take that into consideration but I found a shower head to put on the cieling (the cieling still needs to be worked on so it's not a big deal) that will allow flow from above and then he wants to have a shower head on one of the sides plus some type of jet stream (?). We have someone to install all of that for us right now but we have to decied on how we want the bathtub. I know with a walk in shower I want a place to sit and then built in shelves for shampoos and such. I would love to put a window in but not sure about that? Now to decied on colours and cabinets and stones or tile? I'm in a want everything blue mood for the past year but I don't want the entire house in blues and greys so I need to think hard on that. Right now I'll just work on the cabinets, how I really want the shower and tile./stone. :) Ideas for that would be lovely!

If done properly, I window in the shower is great. I recommend Island Stone products used as tile in bathrooms and showers.

I love the window in the second image with the darker tile~! Do you know where I can get something like that? I really like that one. I was thinking of a grey stone? That way it would work with most anything I want colour wise outside of and a galss side with one entry point that remains open?

That window is a beige vinyl awning style. The glass have a "v-groove" cut design in it. This unit was purchased from www.Alside.com

!6 x 8 is really not a bad size. I think you could do a lot with that. To make the most of size you need o streamline. Less is more. Here is an image that might inspire you.

I vote for shiny chrome faucets. I researched the rubbed oil for my current house and most in my beer budget are just a coating over the silver and flake off over time / get chipped. My first home was a 1913 beauty... the original plumbing faucets / handles in place were solid brass coated with chrome /nickel? They were icky so I took them to a restorer and he polished off the chrome and restored to original beauty of the brass! Brasso kept them looking good.

If you have room for 2 sinks, I would try to work that in,,,,,more counter, more clutter,,,and 2 sinks sell better to buyers. If you have a tub somewhere already, don't worry about putting one in,,,just a sleek shower with bench would be nice.

Since the home is older, I think it is important to consider this to add value. Nothing is worse than a remodel that doesn't go with the home's style. If you go to Kohler.com they have bathroom layout ideas for every size and shape bathroom. The finishes in your bathroom should reflect the house- satin nickle would look lovely in your home. On a budget? thefind.com will help you find what you want for the price within your budget. Also, choose a stock porcelain tile and then add an 'expensive' accent tile to give you the luxury and high end look.

I like the second image of limestone. That is very lovely and yes we are considering those factors. Our home is traditional and has a time period feel. But very open and comfortable. I'm hand painting clipper ships for our back splash in our kitchen over the one counter top...we found the most lovely light replicas that inspired that. lol we got them at such a good price I'm still thrilled 2 years later!

I love your answer and reaction to the comment to Design Build Pros and am fully with you on both the window and grey, because it is an easy color to live with and compliment-no suggestions from me as you have so many here-but good luck and have fun.
