If you put any electrical outlets on the side of the island close to the kitchen side of the island , they'll be less likely to be in the way of any cabinets on the kitchen side or any bar stools on the dining room side or even on the side of the island.

Elsewhere - keep as many outlets as you possibly can, especially where you do the most food prep using countertop appliances. If you're right handed, you probably want the outlets on the wall above and left of where you're working.

If you need to remove one outlet for whatever reason, you can create a six socket outlet with the closest one by plugging in an outlet adapter, usually with surge protector.

Thank you for the advise. I just wanted to clarify that we are not going to have an island is a small wall that is in the kitchen right now,that we want to remove to have a more open space. I chose the pic to give my “helpers” an idea.

Yes, Stecki, I have specified them in two highend homes and the biggest challenge is getting the electricals and space for the unit to retract with cabinetry etc. But it can be done. We shorted a couple of drawers on one, and we has a cabinet done on the other so there was open space beneath the countertop. A bit tricky, but folks LOVE them. Great conversation piece for parties too!
