Hi nix, I think it is nice as it. I guess if you want it more "elegant" you might try a bigger area rug? I couldn't see the upper light, but a hanging chandelier might be nice...and maybe change out the personal pictures for artwork? Have you tried matching mirrors on walls next to main door? Oh, I love your stairs, but I love carpet runners too....good luck

I like Kendrah’s suggestion however I’m not convinced the table is wide enough so, try it but you may need to get something wider and I’d add a bench opposite the table. Your light fixture doesn’t show, making me think it might be a flush mount whereas a beautiful, hanging fixture, would definitely add elegance. If you replace your table, I’d suggest pieces with a gold or silver, distressed or aged, finish of some sort, because they also read very elegant. Get a rug that brings in some colour inspiration and pick that up in your table decor and artwork over the bench.

Delightful! I can really see the fixture but you might want to replace the chain and wire with longer ones, so the fixture can be lowered into your entry area, to hang in front of your transom window.

Way too much going on , remove some of the pictures and items on the table , get a larger rug for people to stand on when they walk inside with wet shoes, a bench or a longer slim table or both one could go under the table and be easily pulled out if someone needs to sit down to put their shoes on . . Too many vases on the floor too, remove them .

I think you need more of the silver gold accessories, furniture , big mirror above table with one of those lovely lamps on table, also perhaps a bigger lower Chandelier, take down all the photo frames and put in lighter frames and group altogether. I think some art would be better

One of those taller vases on table I was meant to say, might be room for lamp as well

I agree with Kendrah. Less is more in this case! Bigger rug, lower chandelier, and moving the pics and table are really good ideas! Maybe play around with it and post pics of the final to get more suggestions! Good luck!

I replaced the pictures with the grandfather clock. Then I will find a table to put on the side with a mirro because the one I have is too wide. Or were you suggesting I put the table and mirror where I remove the pictures from?

I think the clock looks great there! Perfect size. Nice and weighty. I was talking about putting a table and mirror on the wall to the left of the door, where the black pedestals and plants were. It looks like you would need a narrow one, and I think it would look great if it were a darker wood, like your clock. I would make the mirror quite tall, a vertical rectangle. Here are a few ideas of tables and mirrors. I also don't think you need to place anything on the table - no plants, no lamps.

I would gather up your family photos - the ones placed high up, and the ones you can still see when you look at the clock. I would get dark wood frames for them and make a gallery wall with them all together. I would put this gallery collection all together in a place where they can be hung more at eye level and enjoyed as a whole collection and focal point. Is there another room in your home where this would look good?
