White trim definitely tones down the wood windows! I have seen both in different homes! It also depends on the decor you have! If your looking for the mountain cabin look, then I would leave it the way it is.

Thanks so much guys!! Yes now after seeing some pictures it would definitely still look good. We are going for the farmhouse decor and style so I think it could work.

Are the baseboards and doors in the house the same wood tone? If so, keep the stained window trim. Personally, I prefer stained over painted trim.

Love the wood trim on the windows. Incorporating some stained wood pieces or decor in the room would help as well, even if the stain is different than the window trim. The photo posted by lindsey does a good job showing that. Good Luck! Keep us updated.
