Panel ready dishwasher issue

OK I am redoing our condo and I have room only for an 18" dishwasher. I'm fine with that - this is going to be a vacation rental

Can't get an 18" Samsung which the rest of my appliances will be, and also I like the idea of hiding it behind a panel I figure it will help my small kitchen look less busy.

So I am looking at this Bosch but I've read that the panel can only be 28" tall and that leaves a 2" gap at the bottom. Does anyone have any experience with this? The reviwers said the gap looked weird and defeated the purpose of getting a custom panel.

I work in construction (bricklayer) and we make things work all the time so I'm wondering if it might be possible to cut the Shaker panel at the bottom and reattach on a hinge so it would fold back when opening the door.

If this is not practical I'll just go with the Stainless steel dishwasher I guess :)

The Miele 18" would be my choice. See what size panel it takes.

Do a stainless Bosch. Period. No trim kit. There's no purpose to a dishwasher panel which is often handled with wet hands. Other than high maintenance.

I wouldn't put paneled nor waste a miele on a rental.

A panelled DW in a rental makes no sense and I would always choose Bosch over Miele

Thanks everyone. My rental is on Maui and I'd put a top quality dw in if it made sense .....but you've convinced me to go with the stainless steel Bosch.

Build the panel taller than the machine. This way the "gap" is at the top. Then you would put a small cabinet color filler behind the door and the door would extend past the top of the dishwasher and look like a standard door.

I have used the 18" Miele in this same situation. It works beautifully and I far prefer Miele to Bosch. I have never had a Miele fail and some are 20 years old. I must add that I always get the top of the line model.
