Fulgor Milano Sofia 36" dual fuel or full gas range

I am quite taken with the above range. Any feedback with regard to likes/dislikes/pros/cons about this product would be greatly appreciated. I cook but don't bake often so it was recommended a full gas range would be better however, I don't believe the full gas is self cleaning so that may be an issue but not a deal breaker.

Did you get the Sofia ? Gas or Dual are you happy with it ?

No I’m not - After weeks and weeks of going back-and-forth I’m actually getting this:
    DCS 36” ALL GAS RANGE
Our appliance technician said they’re pretty new here (Canada) - it’s kind of 50-50 - would be taking a chance

Sorry no your not happy ? Or no you didn't buy it thank you

Did not buy it - also I wasn’t a fan of the big digital clock in the middle of all the gas knobs

We are new owners of the Sophia. absolutely love it!

Well finally after about a year and a half I did end up getting the 36” all gas Fulgor Milano Sophia. She’s only been with us for three weeks but I am so glad I changed my mind I got her instead of the DCS. I roasted a 16 pound turkey for Christmas dinner and it took just over two hours. I know one is not supposed to love inanimate objects but still... and a five year warranty

I love mine also! We bought in Nov.2020. All gas and I'm glad I did it. But I can't decide on a fan now. The fulgor says it is 69db which I think but I'm not sure is loud. Any feed back on that.

We were originally going to go with the chimney range hood but changed our mind - We decided there was enough going on and made it simpler. Don’t forget you can order a customized main plate for Sofia. Took a while to get here and we will never ever forget the year we got it.

I should also add we were having starter troubles for the oven and they replaced the burner. So far so good and she came with a five year warranty.

That is pretty cool. Who did you order it through? Canadian Appliance never said anything about it. Do you know what db your fan is and do you like it?

We are here on the West Coast Victoria BC Canada not sure where you are. We got all our new appliances from Coast Appliances as we built a house. I went through three appliance places before I chose them. I love the fan-it actually does the job it’s supposed to do...sounds like a 747 takeoff at high speed but it also drowns out my husband watching his soccer games. Designer we hired looked after finding the fan we needed... so I’m not really sure exactly what’s up there. But I do know, as we have the 36 inch range and where the fan needed to be located, it had to be a pretty powerful one. We also had to add that extra piece of stainless steel at the back of the range vertically due to new building codes - even though it is quartz back there.

Ok thanks for the info. I'm interested in the plate. Did your designer get it for you? We are on a ranch outside of Drumheller.

    Plate???

    Awesome, Thank you

Can you tell me the distance between hood insert and range? I am looking at the insert and trying to determine height. Literature is a little conflicting as range states 30” minimum and insert 27” maximum distance.

We had issues with that. Had to insert concrete board and stainless steel above and a piece of stainless steel at the back of the range in front of the quartz. I don’t know where you live but they keep changing the rules. From top of countertop to bottom of fan area is 36 1/2 inches. We built our house so had to do this to pass inspection etc. Just had it done last week.

Good to know. Where I live regulations are not always that stringent. I am putting the insert in a custom 42” hood and thought that it might be wise to use stainless steel on the underside as you did. Plan is to have hood at 33” and I am also getting the induction range, so not as much heat. Taking a bit of a chance on the range, but I wanted induction and this has knobs instead of touch controls. I have a terrible time with my fingers and touch screens/controls.

I'm on the west coast like you and I've been looking for all gas, sealed 30" range shopping. I was looking at FP and Bluestar, but then I think we knocked bluestar off the list this past weekend. I saw the fulgor on the same trip to the appliance store and it's really intriguing me now. The power seems really good on both the sofia and the accento. The build quality looks and feels good. Looks wise its got a pro style which is what I'm looking for. Curious if you've had any issues with maintenance so far and how was customer service generally?

Christine Wang: For the most part it's all good. Tip: when I cook something on the burners that will make a splatter I just use foil on the part of the range I'm not using (not covering any vents). Helps immensely. Cleaning has been pretty good so far but I do maintain it and wipe up any messes after I've finished cooking. I have had issues with the oven not igniting properly and the technician brought in a new burner- however, still takes 3 tries to get it to light sometimes. So they are coming back...again. I will keep at them until I'm satisfied. The range top burners work very well - no issues. Also, it's an all gas unit - I was warned it's not a perfected temperature gage for baking (cakes, cookies, things that require a specific temp). But I don't bake so I'm fine with that. She is a 36" range and ain't going anywhere - we kind of built our kitchen/house around it so replacement would be costly and time consuming. However, I have a 5 year warranty and am keeping all my correspondence. At the end of the day I'm pretty much still super happy with her and the customer service with Coast Appliances has been stellar.

Also also, the Fisher & Paykel range was the other one I was looking at and went back and forth a few times but got the Fulgor Milano - the F&P was my 2nd choice in this price range.

What base cabinet depth do folks have here next to their Fulgor Milano's?

    30”

    is that with the doors/drawers?

Front to back quartz countertop is 30” with the front overhang about 3/4” over doors/drawers.

Bought dual fuel Sofia range in 2017. Loved it at first and then the problems started. A front burner wouldn't ignite properly. Then the first time using self clean, just low setting to test it, the circuit board/control panel failed rendering the oven unusable. Repair guy (only company who works on FM) damaged the finish when prying the top off to do repair. Turns out it is only stainless steel "look" around the cooktop, not real stainless steel, so scuffs and scratches easily revealing a plastic looking undersurface. Really disappointing. After talking to a different repair person found out that this problem using self clean is a common complaint so haven't tried it again for fear we'd lose use of the oven once more. Self-clean was one of the features we wanted and now it is useless. Then the internal fan required for venting crapped out. Steam builds up between glass panels, temp doesn't regulate properly and exterior of oven (handles, knobs etc) get super hot. Basically oven is barely usable again and this happened right when the warranty expired. This range was a very costly purchase for us and I rely heavily on it since we eat entirely home prepared & cooked food. Now we are stuck with a lemon that we can ill afford to keep repairing. Never ever would I buy a Fulgor Milano product again!

@incanidol can you offer your insight with the FM Sofia induction range you purchased? Did you go for the 30" or 36"? Impressions?

@Carla Davies Compliments Carla on your stove setup! The pattern of the stainless steel backsplash caught my eye. Is there a name/description for that finish?

Not really sure what the name of it is - all I remember is the original one I picked was $60 a square foot and this one was $16 a square foot. It’s a metal copper colour.

Dano Marco, I purchased the 36” Induction range. I have actually not used the oven yet as a I a combi steam oven, but have used the cooktop quite a lot. I am new to induction, so have had a learning curve. A couple of takeaways. The cooktop works well, but there is some limitation with the pot sizes, as the top does not have a bridge burner. I like using the knob, but there is a lot of play in that you turn it a lot to go from one level to the next. Also, I wish they had one small burner up front rather than both in the back. I tend to use the center burner the most. Overall I am pleased with the range. I did not want to spend more for the Wolf, and so far feel that I have made a decent choice. Here are a couple of photos with it installed.

does anyone here know the name of service ppl for FM in Canada? I remember reading it in another thread but cant find it now.

I called here - very helpful

@Carla Davies thank you so much

@incanidol I'm looking at the 36" FM induction range and was wondering if you have used the oven. Are you happy with the oven and induction?

I would never buy one of these ovens. The control boards are faulty. We are on our third replacement in a year and the company refused to replace the oven. Horrible company and horrible product. Completely unreliable.

@vikkibrown is yours duel fuel or gas only?
