Mid Century Modern: exterior advice needed

last modified: 7 years ago

We will be replacing our cedar siding, in addition to gutters, soffits and fascia. I like the board and batten look. I’m willing to give it some style updates, but also want to preserve the history and not look out of place in our neighborhood.

Looking for color ideas for siding, trim & gabels to go w/Cream City Brick. Considering shakes in the gables on front and side w/contrast band to separate. Lighter or darker color than siding? Shake on garage gable or leave as board and batten? Contrasting corner pieces or same color?

Planning to cover existing entry posts w/square posts.

Downspouts will be relocated to ends of house.

Garage door will stay,

Tan sliding door off deck will stay, but open to updating trim.

Keep pendant light or put one on house to right of door?

Regular soffit in portico or a smooth product to replicate wood (product recommendations?)

Landscaping ideas?

Thank you!!!
