It's probably worth a try to repot them -- if only to protect those not in danger of dying. Put the healthier ones in one pot and the more dead looking ones in another.

How easy is it to wiggle the stalk out of the dirt......if the stalk feels very light I would remove it and see what happens with the one that is still alive.

Ok, then you would have to cut those dead stalks down to allow new growth. Unless the roots maybe choking
